This is how many votes Stockholm Åre 2026 needs to win the vote

The IOC has now announced the list of which IOC members will vote in the election of the host city for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2026.

82 of the total of 95 IOC members will vote. Below is a list of those who will not be present in Lausanne, or are not eligible to vote:

Those who cannot attend:
• HRH the Grand-Duc de Luxembourg
• Ms. Danka Bartekova
• Ms. Hayley Wickenheiser
• HRH Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck

• Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah
• Mr Patrick Joesph Hickey
• Mr Frank Fredericks

Swedish IOC members:
• Ms. Gunilla Lindberg
• Mr Stefan Holm

Italian IOC members:
• Mr Ivo Ferriani
• Mr Franco Carraro
• Mr Giovanni Malago

The entire list of the 82 IOC delegates who will be included in the vote was released early on Monday.

In order to win the vote, you need a majority of the votes. That is, 50% +1. In this case, it means that to host the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2026, at least 42 votes will be needed.

If it were to be a tie after two rounds of the vote, IOC chairman Thomas Bach has the casting vote.
